Yuneec E-Go Cruiser Electric Skateboard

Yuneec E-Go Cruiser Electric Skateboard

Should you buy the Yuneec E-Go Cruiser Electric Skateboard? Find out below.

There’s a couple of things I immediately like about this Yuneec. Firstly, it is a lot less expensive than competitors like Boosted boards. The second reason is that it has a much greater range than most of its competitors.

400 Watt Motor With Regenerative Braking

The E-Go looks like a regular skateboard, but discreetly hidden away underneath the board is where the action is taken place. The skateboard is powered by a single 400 watt motor which provides power going forward, but not backwards. The motor comes with a regenerative braking system, which partially recharges the battery when you are braking and slowing down.

Power, Charge and Speed

The board weighs just under 13.9 pounds, which is slightly lighter than the 2000 watt boosted board. Most of the weight is from the massive 7.8 amp/hour battery, which according to the manufacturer gives it a range of 18 miles, We were impressed to discover this battery can be re-charged in as little as 3 hours, and of course the Yuco comes with the charger included.
As for speed, then depending on your weight, around 12.5mi/hr is achievable on the level. That doesn’t sound like much, but trust me,  it’s quicker than you might think.

Controlling The E-Go

The board is controlled by a little black bluetooth remote controller. The ergonomic design of this controller makes it comfortable to hold over long periods of time, without getting hand ache.
There are two basic modes for the controller – Sport or Eco mode. In Sport mode, you get a relatively fast rate of acceleration, but reduced range. Eco mode is “economy” mode, and gives you less acceleration but maximum range.
When riding, you control the speed with the throttle slider on the top of the controller. Slide the button forward for acceleration, and backwards for braking. It’s very intuitive to use.
On the front of the controller there are little LED status lights which tell you if the status of the boards battery, and another light indicates the controller’s battery status. When the batteries get low, the status lights change to flashing red, and the controller will vibrate. This is a really smart feature, and prevents you from getting caught out and stranded with a flat battery.

There is also a second option for controlling your board; you can use an application on your iPhone which connects to the E-Go via bluetooth. As well as the basic functions to control your skateboard, it also gives you handy information such as a speedometer, battery status and distance traveled. Everything you need is in your hand.

How Does It Feel To Ride?

People who have previously owned owned skateboards or longboards say the adaptation to this electric board is quite quick. You should feel comfortable with it in about three hours of riding it. It offers a smooth ride due to the relatively soft wheels and slight flex in the 8 layered maple-wood deck.

Whether you are an experienced rider or just starting out on this board, I recommend you select “Turtle” mode on controller, which caps the speed at about 7MPH, until you get used to it. After which, you can select Rabbit mode which will unleash the full potential of this board.

Both the acceleration and deceleration on this board are quite gentle, so you won’t be lurching around and being thrown off it.

Some people may prefer the 2000w Boosted Dual board, however, bear in mind that is almost twice the cost of this Yuneec! If you want to get the enjoyment of an electric skateboard without forking out $1500, then this board offers a real solution to you. We feel it has a practical application for getting from A to B, as well as just cruising for fun.

Perfect for commuting to and from college. No more taking buses and long walks for me! One charge gets me about two days of use but I like to charge it each night just in case.
It’s also a good talking point if you don’t mind a bit of attention when you sweep into college on your electric board and everyone is looking. So far after 3 months I’ve not had any problems with it. Seems relaiable enough.

Paying a whopping $1500 for a longboard was out of the question for me, so when one of my college friends showed me his Yuneec it was a nice alternative at a more affordable price.
I’ve never ridden a Boosted board so I have no comparison, but I am really happy with my E-Go Cruiser. I think my favorite thing about it is how long the charge lasts. The olny thing I worry about is someone steeling it. I hear that they have become quite desirable among thieves because of their high resell value!
Anyway, I can definitely recommend it! After riding an electric board, you will never go back to a non-motorized one again.
