The Krown Krex 2 Bamboo Freestyle Complete Longboard is great for beginners looking for a decent board for under $100.
The bearings are not amazing, but good enough for cruising and freeriding, and they are more than adequate for beginners – which is who this board is designed for. You could still hit 30MPH on this Krown Krex!
Awesome Bamboo Deck
You’ll really like the deck on this board. At 41″ it is ideal for cruising – you get the best balance between enough length for stability and speed, but not so long as to impair maneuverability.
As you would expect from a bamboo deck it has some flex in it which will give you a nice smooth ride, even over rough concrete and bumps in the sidewalk.
Upgrade To Make This A Rocket On Wheels
On a 20 degree downhill slope we managed to hit just under 30MPH on this Krown board. That’s more than fast enough for a beginner! However, although the bearings are fine for a beginner, after a few months you’ll likely want something with higher performance. The good news is that for just $13 you can upgrade to smoother bearings and get some bigger wheels and this board will absolutely fly!
Strong, Durable Materials
Let’s be honest, even the most natural beginner is going to give their longboard a bit of a battering – pranging the nose into the kerb etc. That’s where this board comes into its own – it’s built like an armored personnel carrier. My 13yr old niece was roaring up and down the street on this, crashing into all manner of things, and the board didn’t have so much as a dink or scratch on it afterwards.

Customer Reviews and Scores
This board is considered a steal for the price of only $75, which is reflected by 43 customers rating it an average of 4.3 out of 5 stars, demonstrating the great value for money which this board is. Also, lots of customers have commented on how smooth a ride it offers and how beautiful it looks straight out of the box.
One niggle some customers have mentioned is that the board needs to be ‘broken in’ – the trucks can be a little stiff at first, so it may take a few rides before it feels really comfortable in the turn. One option to get around this issue would be to loosen the trucks for the first couple of weeks until the trucks wear in.
Other than that, this Krown Krex is considered a great all round board, particularly for cruising.
In summary, this is a fun and versatile board for a beginner rider who is not looking to spend too much on their first board.
This longboard is durable and strong enough to take the beating it will get from a beginner rider, and has the potential to be upgraded to a mid range board for less than $15 with some smoother bearings and improved wheels.
